Intruder Alarm Monitoring
A home or business should always feel secure, whether you’re there or away. An intruder alarm system is designed to detect movement and trigger the external bell box to sound an alarm, deterring criminals. But with professional monitoring in place, you get more than just a loud siren — you gain the reassurance that any confirmed activation is passed straight to an Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC). From there, trained operators notify your chosen keyholders and, if required, the police. This ensures that the right action is taken swiftly, offering a higher level of protection than a standalone system.
How Intruder Alarm Monitoring Works
When your alarm detects an intruder, the system will signal through to the ARC. This monitoring centre operates 24/7, ensuring no activation goes unnoticed. The response will depend on the configuration of your system:
- Keyholder notification – your nominated contacts are called so someone can respond quickly.
- Police response – if a confirmed alarm signal is received, the ARC will escalate the situation directly to the police.
- Smartphone alerts – with the Texecom Connect App, you’ll also receive instant notifications on your mobile subject to internet connnection, allowing you to see which device was triggered and take action if necessary.
This layered approach means you stay informed while professionals ensure the right steps are taken.
- Wired burglar alarms, wireless alarms or hybrid.
- Installer of Texecom Control panels, one of the most reliable systems on the market.
- Movement detectors and detection devices including: door contacts, shock sensors, motion sensors.
- Connect with Smartcom App for remote control from your smartphone with optional dual path 4G\IP in the event of mains failure.
- Optional 24 hour remote monitoring with Police response.

Why Professional Monitoring Matters
A ringing bell alone may deter some intruders, but it cannot guarantee a response. With ARC monitoring, your alarm is backed by a professional team available round-the-clock. The key benefits include:
- Confirmed alarm signals minimise false alarms and ensure genuine threats are prioritised.
- Keyholder and police response provide a direct line of action when needed.
- Reduced risk of damage, theft, or disruption, as help is notified quickly.
This makes monitored alarm systems a more dependable and effective solution compared to unmonitored alternatives.

What does an Intruder Alarm include?
Burglar alarm systems are now a commonplace feature on residential and commercial properties. At their most basic, they are designed to alert residents and people nearby of the presence of intruders on the property. A visible home intruder alarm system can act as a deterrent in itself, making your home less likely to be targeted by criminals.
While deterring and detecting intruders is the basic purpose of a burglar alarm, a good burglar alarm system can also offer a range of other features to enhance security, such as a remote keypad, sensors, an external sounder, HD CCTV systems, and more. If the worst does happen, and your property is broken into, the extra features on a burglar security system can help to identify and apprehend the burglar.

Intruder Alarm FAQ's
How do burglar alarms work?
Burglar alarm systems consist of a range of components that provide robust protection against intruders. Sensors are a key part of burglar alarm systems, and these are placed on doors and windows. Motion detectors within the premises provide an extra layer of protection.
When the system has been turned on and a sensor has been triggered, the alarm will sound. This alerts occupants and people nearby to a potential intruder. Increasingly, burglar alarm security systems are connected to around-the-clock monitoring services, some of which automatically alert the police or a security company if the alarm is activated.
Burglar alarms can also be linked to smartphone apps, allowing homeowners to receive real-time alerts and control the system remotely wherever they are in the world.
How often should an alarm system be serviced?
We recommend that you intruder alarm is maintained at least once per year. With Police response systems 6 monthly.
Your alarm system will comprise of parts which have standby batteries that need to operate correctly in the event of mains failure. It is therefore important to ensure these are all checked and tested regularly.
If the alarm system has been installed as part of your Insurance Co requirements then they will also require the system to be maintained annually.
Are burglar alarms wired or wireless?
Burglar alarms can be wired or wireless, with each option having distinct advantages depending on the installation and the user’s needs. Wired burglar alarms have a physical connection via wires between the control panel, sensors, and other components. This makes them robust and reliable, as well as less susceptible to any interference. In larger properties, or in new builds, where they can easily be integrated during construction they are often a practical option.
Wireless burglar alarms use radio signals to communicate between the system’s components. These are flexible to install and easier to upgrade. They don’t require cabling or extensive drilling, making them ideal for retrofitting into existing properties. They can also be portable, making them a convenient option for people who may need to move home. Many modern wireless systems offer the same level of reliability as wired options.
