What does an Intruder Alarm include?
Burglar alarm systems are now a commonplace feature on residential and commercial properties. At their most basic, they are designed to alert residents and people nearby of the presence of intruders on the property. A visible home intruder alarm system can act as a deterrent in itself, making your home less likely to be targeted by criminals.
While deterring and detecting intruders is the basic purpose of a burglar alarm, a good burglar alarm system can also offer a range of other features to enhance security, such as a remote keypad, sensors, an external sounder, HD CCTV systems, and more. If the worst does happen, and your property is broken into, the extra features on a burglar security system can help to identify and apprehend the burglar.
CONTROL PANEL
We install tried and tested manufactured Texecom Control panels. These are considered to be one of the most reliable systems on the current market. At Alarm Maintenance Ltd we actually bench test all equipment we install so we are completely confident in what we are recommending and installing.
The control panel is the brains of the intruder alarm, They are used to adjust the setting and parameters of the alarm system. The control panel also houses the standby battery which is there is support the system in the event of no mains power. The Control panel is usually installed in a hidden location. The location of the control panel would be discussed at the site survey.
Movement detectors
Detection devices can be door contacts, shock sensors, motion sensors in various colour options and in Wired and Wireless variants for internal and external detection.

Remote keypads
This unit is used to set and unset the alarm, either by a four digit code or a proximity tags.
A remote keypad would normally be installed by point of entry / exit so convenient to use as you leave the Premises / property.
external sounder
An external sounder with re-assurance LED’s and strobe light and option of backlit for greater deterrent effect at night would normally be fitted to the front of the Building / property. The external sounder can be set to ring for a varied length of time depending on your requirements and the location usually from 5 – 20 mins.
The system can be connected with a Smartcom to enable notification and remote control from your smartphone. The standard unit will connect your wi-Fi. For a higher level of security we can install a dual path 4G\Ip Smartcom that will continue to operate in the event of mains failure.
The 4G version can also be used for 24 hour remote monitoring with Police response.

How often should an alarm system be serviced?
We recommend that you intruder alarm is maintained at least once per year. With Police response systems 6 monthly.
Your alarm system will comprise of parts which have standby batteries that need to operate correctly in the event of mains failure. It is therefore important to ensure these are all checked and tested regularly.
If the alarm system has been installed as part of your Insurance Co requirements then they will also require the system to be maintained annually.
Are burglar alarms wired or wireless?
Burglar alarms can be wired or wireless, with each option having distinct advantages depending on the installation and the user’s needs. Wired burglar alarms have a physical connection via wires between the control panel, sensors, and other components. This makes them robust and reliable, as well as less susceptible to any interference. In larger properties, or in new builds, where they can easily be integrated during construction they are often a practical option.
Wireless burglar alarms use radio signals to communicate between the system’s components. These are flexible to install and easier to upgrade. They don’t require cabling or extensive drilling, making them ideal for retrofitting into existing properties. They can also be portable, making them a convenient option for people who may need to move home. Many modern wireless systems offer the same level of reliability as wired options.
How often should burglar alarm batteries be replaced?
Any wireless devices have a battery which need to be replaced.
We recommend replacing all batteries in a wireless system annually to avoid any unwanted low battery signals.
What does an intruder alarm service include?
The Maintenance visit will include for fitting replacement batteries where required, full functional test of all detection devices and all alarm sounders and remote signalling. Plus parts. Our maintenance service is completed by appointment so that you do not have to wait around for us to arrive. We do not bind you into any long-term contracts.
